I was recently given this small handy book by a friend that did not require sit down time to read. I read it when I walked across my study table. Each page costs sixty seconds of reading and reflection exactly like the author, John Edmund Haggai of 365 Things Every Successful Leader Should Know says. I am picking my top 10 points from it.

  1. Leadership is the discipline of deliberately exerting special influence within a group to move it towards goals of beneficial permanence that fulfilled the group’s real needs.
  2. The effective speaker has something worthy to say and says it worthily.
  3. Shape the way you think by what you do.
  4. The successful investor focuses his attention on the possible return, not on what other investors are doing.
  5. It takes courage to develop your abilities – it’s easier to bask in the warm atmosphere of the comfort zone and risk nothing.
  6. Develop the habit of appreciating people.
  7. The man who knows everything learns nothing.
  8. Self-control comes down to successful leadership of your own character.
  9. Without a preset time limit, what could be done in ninety minutes may take six hours.
  10. Leaders need to handle ambiguity, anticipate it and ride it to provide leadership.
